hi, i have a philips 951 player.
my problem is that if I insert a apple-media dvd the disc wonīt play in my standalone dvd951 (but in another philips dvd712 the dvd-r plays nice!?!?!?).
If I burn the same content to a pioneer dvd-rw the content will be played. I think itīs the player, such a "§$"§"§$, I am going to buy another one tomorrow, but what do you think could be the problem?
The firmware? (Itīs one year old, some dvd-r films work, some not. but that isnīt satisfying me....)
:devil: :scared:

HI!

i have heared some real strange things about these philips standalones. I use only panasonic and i am satiesfied with them. Even my 4 years old A 350 plays DVD-R. The sad thing is that they doesn`t seem to like these cheap medias.
But the strange thing for me is that in your philips the rw media works and these apple medias are nearly the same as pioneer. With the time this dvd thing gets more and more interesting.
We should really work all together and create a real compatibility list whichs medias work on which player all the other stuff is crap in my eyes.
I think these Apex players like every media but when i look to the european market there are some problems still left. Perhaps we can do this all together?

Which player do you want to buy?

Iīve bought another philips. (i only buy philips products for tv-muldimedia-issues, that means players and tv-sets)

Now I bought me a dvd-712, not very expensive like the 9xx but it has everything I need.
I think itīs the menu-structure, as I made it with maestro a little bit more complicated, the 951 gave up. (itīs only one year old but who really thought one year ago about burning a dvd?)

ok, my new player is a:

philips dvd-712, it supports:
->princo dvd-rw
->pioneer dvd-rw
->apple dvd-r
->verbatim
->vivastar
->and, as I said before, it accepts complete the (pal) image-sttructure that dvd-maestro makes from my image-projects

...so in the end Iīm comletely satisfied with my new player because I īm going to buy only apple dvd-r media in the future and princo-dvd-rw for checking.(because they are cheap, not too cheap, but cheap enough for me)
:)
