Where can I get an AAC Encoder? Do I have to pay to use AAC?

Do you know if there's something like a codec for AACs? Because right now I can only play them back with winamp!

... a direct show filter would be GREAT too.

also, what is the difference between using the winamp output plugin, the psytel encoder, and the psytel FAST encoder, to make aac files?? which is the best way to go.

1) My ACC DShow filter exists & is ready for when one of the new formats is stable & supports VBR audio.

2) Go for the standard Psytel Encoder for encoding to AAC,

Ehmm,.. your DS filter would come in handy now that one could use OggMux to put aac into a ohm shell ;)

please release it as soon as u can (i would be happy to be a
beta tester or something)

one of the new formats IS now stable and supports vbr audio

ogg media stream comes to mind ;)

but i understand there is other problems preventing us all from using aac at the moment ... sigh ...

also ... im curious:

what software / settings do u use when encoding aac audio for movies???

i'm not an expert but in the name of quick reply:

aac is another audio encoding format most simerly related to mpeg streams. It also seems to be the prefered? and perhaps forefront? audio tecnology slated for mpeg4 streams.

That more or less right?
