Ilegal Bit Rate Error

I am trying to convert an avi into mpeg.

I stripped the audio with virtual dub and then opened tmp any ways - I keep getting an illegal bit rate error!

What is this and how do I fix it??

You haven't told us what type of MPEG file you are trying to create! Different standards require different MPEG to be encoded for them. If you are creating VCDs, for example, you must not exceed 1150kbps. DVD also has its own requirements, although these are far more flexible (you must not exceed combined AV bitrate of 9.8mbps, for instance).

Please state what type of project you are trying to author, and what settings you are using in TMPGEnc...
