here is my problem.

I am trying to make and SVCD compatable Video stream. I use the default PAL settings that come with TMPG and the only thing I change is the video to 2 pass encoding, the settings for this are (max - 2520, average 2520, min 1800) I leave it running for the 8 hours it takes to do the movie.. when finished I load a selection from it into nero and it tells me it's not SVCD compatable.. WHY!? i mean all the other bitrate settings work fine its just 2 pass where it fucks up. What am I doing wrong? I mean the only thing I am changing from the template is the bitrate to 2 pass encode

Usually nero tells you more than just "error".

Why do you set average 2520 while setting min to 1800...?

TMPG doesnt tell me there is an error, NERO does. says the MPEG stream is incompatible. Why wouldnt I set the average to 2520 and the low to 1800?

Just don't bother with Nero, use something like VCDEasy (which is free). Nero is not the best program to burn SVCDs.

There are lots of things that can happen if Nero reports an error. E.g. the frame rate should be 29.97 or 25 and not 23.976 (it might work, though) etc.

It might be because you use a too high framerate. Some dvd players do not play anything above 2450.
