Know i managed to "crash" the cce2.50 video encoding stage too many times for me to mention, the only one common factor is that i have disabled screensavers and when the monitor turns off due to powersafe it tends to crash cce?. When i say crash, the process stops, the encoder shows as not responding in taskmanger, however cpu usage stays at 100%, does anyone know of software that will nudge the application back into life, i used to have a similar problem in flaskmpeg but would be able to unfreeze the lockup with norton crashgaurd? any solutions for xp?
Using cce sp 2.50 and dvd2svcd

It's not crashed, it's still running ;)
Let it go. It will repaint its window when its done. CCE does'nt react on windows messages when its encoding. Thats why task manager thinks its 'gone to meet its maker'.

the reason i say it crashed, is that it is no longer outputting anything to the encodedpal file, this file and the movie file stayed the same for 3 hours after the cce encoding window froze and the counter stopped.

In between our messages it went again, completely stopped decoding at around 75%, one moment was chugging away at 100% next moment gone?
Its currently taking about 40 hours to do 1 movie..:(, 3rd time lucky
what are the advantages of using deintelace, particulary tecelide, apart from adding about 3 hours to the encoding?
