remuxing question

I wanted to know if this scenario is possible and if so, what would be the steps to do it. I stripped all the unneeded menus and streams from Memento, and even cut the credits off the end. Its still 4.45 GB, so I wanted to get rid of .8GB by using rempeg2. So, what I did was take the last VOB and rmpeg'd it to 80% to save that space. Is it now possible to take the newly created .m2v file and expected it to remux properly, even though I only rempeg'd the last VOB? I know it works when you rempeg the whole thing, but last time that took 14 hours and I only need to save 100MB. Please help

you can only rempeg the FIRST vob file....not the last.
doing the last won't work.

Ok so after I do the first vob file with ReMPEG2..How do I add it back in to the video??

Newbie here to transcoding..but not new at IFOEdit

after ripping the movie to your hard drive, move the _1.vob and the vts_*_0.ifo to a TEMP directory.

then, run rempeg2 on that _1.vob file to get a .M2V file in the same directory. then, open the .ifo file in that directoy and remux the .M2V file back into the _1.vob...BUT save the output file back into the original directory you ripped the whole movie into. This will recreate the _1.vob file that you moved in the first step.

then move the .ifo file from the TEMP directoy back into the original directoy.

open the .ifo file and strip steams, etc.

Can I also do the steps you just explained and do vob 1 and then vob 2 afterwards in the same fashion?

Do u use ReMPEG2 or TMPENGENC for your transcoding?

you can only do this technique on the FIRST vob file.
otherwise, you have to rempeg2 the entire title set.

i use rempeg2, 720x480, match source, gradient.

if quality is a concern, you might want to take a look at cce.
faster and better quality but more work : you'll have to reauthor.

using spruce up, this is mainly resetting you chapter points.

Well, quality is always a concern....

I have Scenarist...and CCE 2.5 registered version..


Could u point me in the right direction to make use of CCE and Scenarist to do a DVDR?
