DVD2AVI rip to Huffyuv?

Is there any reason why I cannot just rip a DVD right from DVD2AVI into Huffyuv format, then use Virtual Dub's batch processing to run a 2 pass encoding of the resulting file?

How much space do you think is required for doing a 2 hr. movie to Huff format?

I believe, at DVD resolution, huffy will use about 500 MB per minute of video, so a 120 minute movie would take about 60 GB.
