When I rip movies to the hd with my a03 i get about 2x speed, which seems really slow to me, how fast should it be reading, and if that is slow what could be the problem (note i have DMA enabled on all my devices)

Under the specs for the A03 it says 4x read speed for single layer DVD-ROM and 2x speed for dual layer DVD-ROM. Reading/ripping at 2x is normal for that drive. I suggest using a different drive for ripping.
