I'm trying to create a DVD-R from a DVD-9 and I just can't do it. I don't want extras features, fancy menus or audio tracks. I just want the movie on the disc with chapter divisions. I tried the DVD-9 to DVD-R guide and I failed miserably :-), but it occured to me that this process should work, I'd like some feedback first before I waste another week of my free time.

1) Use SmartRipper to rip out the VOB chapters individually using its features to remove the extra audio and subpicture streams.
2) Remove all the files in the output directory that are not VOB files.
3) Reencode MPEG-2 streams in VOB files to reduce their size to the DVD-R limit.
3) Generate new IFO files for an entire DVD using the "Create IFOs" button in IfoEdit with the new VOB files.
4) Burn folder onto disc

Will this process give me a valid DVD that will play on settop devices? Will IfoEdit generate chapter points based on the VOB divisions or can I manually type in my desired chapter points?
