Once you have installed a Software-DVD player you should be able to view your VOBs MPGs and M2Vs in WMP.
WMP then uses the DirectShow filter from your DVD software.

MPEG-2 is not VfW, so there is no codec.

Oh, thanks

Is there any way to make and play subtitles in WMP?

I have never used it but I think this can be done with DirectVobSub. D/L it from Doom9 and read the readme. There you should find any information to get it to work.

Good luck :)

Thanks.

One more thing. The picture seems way too dark, and the brightness and contrast controls don't seem to have any effect. Can this be helped. I would use WinDVD or PowerDVD but then I can't have subtitles. MicroDVD has the same darkness problem.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like the overlay. Make sure that your player is using all of the directshow filters...

Use graphedit, and see if you can get the output to look like you want it to. If it works in graphedit, it works in zoomplayer...

Well, WinDVD is also by default dark, but it has the brightness option so I can solve it that way. As for the filter, perhaps you could send me the one I need, and tell me how to install it. I would appreciate it.

(I tried zoomplayer, and got the same too dark picture.)

Also you can increase brightness by adjusting the overlay settings located atleast for the Radeon in display settings, while in play mode.
