HI!

If i have a bad looking scen after my second pass is it possible to encode that scen with other settings to see if it will be better or i have to encode the second pass from the beginning?With other settings i mean change the low/high or DRF not changing resolution or something like that.

Uh, now it comes to the disadvantage of having the 2 pass stuff in the codec and not in the encoding application.

Since the codec can't know that it isn't starting from frame 0, it'll read the stats from the beginning, whatever range you set with the application :-/

I hope I'm wrong here, but I fear I'm not.

Well i tried with a scen and it seems that the statsfile is not in synch with the frame i encode because it looks like shit;)
Is it possible to change it in the future for you coders out there?

Thank You Ripe73 for mentioning this! Its been driving me nuts lately. I thought it was my fault that when I try to encode a part of a movie with the stats file, everything is a mess.

So, I can also confirm your report and Koepi's huntches.

Until something for this is done, if there will be, one can use gordian knot to isolate and save pieces of stats files.

If you're using internal mode, all you need to do is load gknot, load up the stats file, select the range you're encoding atm, click 'copy curve' and then 'save selec' and save it as a file other than the original (i assume you want to keep the original stats file) and point the codec to the new file.

If you're using external mode, you save the selected range from the first stats file as described above and then do the same with the original gordian knot stats file.

Don't forget to adjust the desired size aswell if you're using internal. Use gordian knot to determine this.

selection's desired size = movie's total desired size * selection size / stats total size
