Hallo,

I tried to rip Robocop 1 from the UK Robocop Trilogy Box.

There are the Theatrical Cut and the Director's Cut on the DVD via INTEGRATED BRANCHING (and I don't have any idea how this works)

I tried to rip the Director's Cut with Smart Ripper, DVD Decrypter and even with vStrip. It is not possible.

The Movie is in Program Chain 11.

In Chain 1 all Rip Programms show a time of 1:59 hrs. which is too long. Chains 2+3 show a time of 1:38.xx whith a difference of a few seconds. It looks like Chain 2+3 show the correct time of the two versions (difference is just 26 sec.)

If I rip Chain 1 and play the vobs the movie starts at the first Integrated Scene of the DC. Chain 2 is the normal Theatrical Cut. Chain 3 is shown with the correct time but ripped and played it also starts at the first DC Scene.

It saw in Smart Ripper that there are some Chapters with 0 MB and some other Things I've never seen before.

I had no problems until now even not with Seamless Branching or Multi Angle DVDs.

But HOW can I rip the Director's Cut???

Thanks in advandce,

Greetings, Vienna

Have you tried ripping with DVD Decrypter, and then using IFOEDIT to get the right version? Just an idea...it might work, it might not....but worth a try :)

Hallo,

I tried it now more than 20 times with no success. First it looked like i got it with ripping each chapter, but in the end I had the DC Scenes but there were missing 6 min. of the movie.

I found out that the disc has 3 angels in the DC Version with the integrated scenes and some chapters have two Cell ID's

Does anybody have an idea how to rip this disc?

Is there a ripper who can handle Multi Angle very well?

DVD Decryter and Smart Ripper even do not find the correct running time of the movie. vStrip shows it right but is also not able to rip the disc.

DVD Decrpyter wont find the running time at all....its doesnt do IFO parsing. Thats where IFOEDIT come in.

Hallo,

Finnaly I got it.

And guess how I ripped it.

All standard rip programms couldn't do the job, FairUse did it well !!!

I changed from FairUse to G-Knot because it is a lot faster to get same quality as 4 LM Encodings with FU, but after that I think I'll return to FU.

maven,

Even though my program doesnt do much ifo stuff, I'd still be interested in finding out the reason for it not working...do you think you could let me/us know by replying in the thread. Thanks in advance.

oi! ;)

checked the IFO and from what i gather the cells are just arranged oddly in the VOBs (i.e. first a few scenes from director's cut, then the normal version which uses playback command to either play normally or jump back to the special version of the scenes in the beginning).

unfortunately, vStrip scans the VOBs linearly from beginning to end. i'll try to fix that soon-ish. until that happens, you can look at the IFO in vStrip GUI and rip the cells one by one for the version you want...

Hi there.

Sorru to bring up such an old subject but I am trying to rip the Director's Cut as well and I am facing the same problems as the guy whio started this thread.

Can someone please tell me in idiot's language how you managed to rip the Director's Cut ?

I am using Smart Ripper or vStrip which are embedded in GKnot 0.26.

Thanks in advance.
