Where do I enter bitrate?

I followed doom9's guide for xvid, but I don't know where I enter the bitrate. I scaled the curve using gnkot and then went for the second pass and got a 3 GB file!

That concept of bitrate for 2 pass was always bad.

You have to enter your desired filesize - and here XviD hits it down to a few kb.

Read the help file or the XOE about "internal 2 pass options".

I just read that you used gknot.

Ok, there you are on your own, I can only support the internal scaling mechanisms.

You may have forgotten to enter the frame-number in the calculator, forgot to disable luma and motion stuff in gknot,...

Dunno where you made some errors, but you made them within gknot.

So go over there and ask for assistance - or use the internal functions of xvid.
I don't know why anyone still would want to use gknot with xvid.

And - as the forum rules, which you ignored, say, you should read the available documentation. I ship the new help file with my binaries, and I offer the XOE.

If you'd read them, you'd already know much more :P

You mentioned at an early stage that your best results with your hacks had been when doin 2 pass Internal and trusting the codec to do the curving as opposed to GKnot. Does this still hold true for the later builds? (My guess is yes since I assume you can't do much more about the external pass)

Surely is something like XviD O... E..., but what exactly ?
