Nice... I hope it actually works... Now only if there was someway to get the current players we like (such as BSPlayer, RadLight, WMP 6.4) to support the mp4 format...

BTW, what's the best aac encoder and what settings do you recommend?

Also, I can't get the K19 video to play in MPEG4IP on my PC... it loads it, the sound initializes, and then nothing.

I belive the best or at least one of the best it's Psytel AAC encoder 2.X ?

I think it's really the best that produces AAC Iso compliant, because FhG doesn't.

If you want to obtain it go to www.hydrogenaudio.org and search for it.

And about settings...I've never used it but it has some well tuned presets like -normal, -internet.... that could do the trick.

I just updated my page with some suggested AAC audio settings. I also have a table with the bitrates and Cut-off frequencies of the different presets.

Now all we have to get is our fav software player to support mp4 and tools to put 2 audio streams and subtitles, and then mp4 will be very nice.

I think mp4 is the format for the future. Sigma is right now testing a chip that will play back mp4 files in Dvd player.

I only wish that we could put Ogg in the a mp4 file. Maybe that is in the future.

does anyone know by the way, if there are allready some dvd players, which can play mp4 ?

morello: well wmp4player does the job, I know it's a bit ugly but hey, QT6 is about to come! (w/full MP4 support)

Actron: I'm afraid it's still too early. Decoder chips have just started shipping, DVD Forum has already adopted MP4 as standard format for HD-DVD but still the disc logical format (file system, encryption, etc) must be defined. You'll have to wait a while to see MP4-capable players.

ReferenceDivx: THANK YOU a lot for your page.

Dont forget MCF. On paper MCF will have more features and should be superior compared to other container formats;)

What about OGM?Is it already dead.

OGM isn't dead at all. For the future though it seems as MCF will provide better flexibility with more features.

OGM is for today.

OGG is made for streaming. Expect to see streaming servers for it in the future. MCF has error recovery features and could technically be streamed. But that is not it's intention. So OGG is now and future and should co-exist nicely with MCF.

Would it be possible to put a larger mp4 file on a cdr compared to a regular avi? Like we can put a larger size svcd mpeg2 file on a cdr compared to a avi file. I think it would be possible. Any ideas out there?

Well, since the only real difference is Mode 2 doesn't have any error protection sectors I don't see why Mode 2 couldn't be used with mp4. It should get you another 100 megs on a 80 min cd... I expect it will be some time however before our burning apps start supporting Mp4cds.

Has anyone been able to play this in Linux? And with what player? Mplayer doesn't work ;)
