nothing but black frames when using virtualdub and divx5

I am using virtualdub 1.4.9 with divxpro5 on Windows XP. Downloaded divxpro5 from www.divx.com, allowed the adaware to go through and tested decoding with media player. Media player was able to decode the video but when I load the file in virtualdub and try viewing it I get nothing but black frames. What could be the problem?

Did you endode the video yourself, if so what were the settings you used?

I got same weird problem..all my movies plays normally on any player, but the picture shows only black in all editing softwares like Aviutil, virtual dub and aviEdit..what causes this?

Same for me...

When I try to open a DivX movie (not encoded by me), it shows black frames.

When I encode to DivX 5.0 myself, it can reopen it without problem....

Strange...anyone having an idea ?
