sorri for buggin u all again but i tried many combination of settings and the picture is still rather pixelated.

okay, for tmpgenc, i've tried 2-pass(the new one from 2.53), 2-pass old where both were set at 1900 average bitrate and 2500 maximum bitrate. dc precision was set to 9 and motion set to high quality(slow).

in fighting scenes there were still 'heavy' pixelation. is this because the max bitrate is not high enough? but then again i would like this to be played on dvd player so i cant really go over it

i have also tried constant quality(75, max 2500), but that has not helped the situation

finally i was wondering if GOP structure and Quantize matrix has anything to do with it. i keep it to default

any input is most appreciated

thanks

Well if CQ with a max of 2530, a min of 900 and a cq of 85-95 does not clear up your problems then it must be the source or the frameserving setup. DO check "soften block noise".

How are you serving your source? AVS or D2V?

thanks for ur reply

i am using d2v as my frameserving. i have just tried what u suggested, but when it comes to fighting scences (in rush hour 2) blockiness occurs.

btw what are intra and non intra blocks?
