version 1: The vertical resolution MUST be divisible by 16

version 2: Both the vertical and horizontal resolution must be divisible by 16.

Until the bug is fixed, which rule should one adhere to?

Whoa! Turning QPEL On = greater clarity/crisper image. Really does work.

As for the resolution issue. If the vertical resolution is not divisible by 16 you get PINK lines. Very distracting and visible.

If the horizontal resolution is NOT also divisible by 16, you get a small block of green at the bottom left.

So MOD8 is causing the issues? Have you tried MOD32 reolutions?

@MaTTeR:
Anything that's divisible by 32 is also divisible by 16, so it won't make a difference....

But obviously MOD2,MOD4,MOD8 are not working correctly.
Too bad.

Thx Acaila. Perhaps that explains why IVTC was giving me bogus errors last night:)

Ragarding resolution and pink lines... I 've just finished my "backup" of The Straight Story, the resolution has been 640*296... They are both divisable by 8 (but only 640 by 16 so as to result to an integer...), GMC and B-frames activated, no QPel nor Psuchovisual enhancements... The video looks very nice and crisp on the two CD rip version, some blocking over the pale colours such as that of skin, but that I suppose is expected and acceptable... There has been only one problem... In a particular scene with a fire showing at the lower left hand side of the film, purple horizontal lines appeared, only along the length of the fire and moved with it, they did not propagate throughout the frma and disappeared with the end of this particular scene, a few instants later some vertical green lines appeared for a few seconds and dissappeared as well for the rest of the film... Would that be a resolution problem, or the coder has diffculty encoding certain type of scenes ?

@MaTTeR:

Ah, IVTC is another story altogether.
The playback filter can't handle anything under MOD16, the resolution it gets as input is the output of your resizing.
The input the IVTC filter receives is the output of your cropping. Unless you crop and resize in one instance ofcourse..

So to make sure all filters work correctly, both the cropping output and resizing output must be multiples of 16.

@Acaila

No my problem is that IVTC and the interlaced features doesn't work within Divx 5. I'm getting Invalid Log errors.

hey, i wish it only had to be divisible by 2 or something. it rejects my file and won't encode. is divx4 the same way?
