ReMPEG2 Generates Fast MPEG-2 Files

I'm having a problem with ReMPEG2 (v1.5.2) generating MPEG-2 files from VOB files and the MPEG-2 files play back far too fast. In one test the VOB was 369 seconds in length and the resulting MPEG-2 file was only 295 seconds long! I've already posted on a couple boards and no one has even replied to my message, I don't know if this problem is unique to me or if people prefer another application to reduce the size of VOB files. I've tested on 2 different machines, one running XP and another running 98-SE and 2 different media and I get the same results. I just don't get what I could possibly be doing wrong here. Can someone who uses ReMPEG2 tell me what their results are? Do you ever get an MPEG-2 file of the same duration as the VOB file? Is there a newer version of ReMPEG2 out there?


When I insert the split audio and video files generated with ReMPEG2 into MyDVD, the app interpretes them as I see them, the audio runs at normal speed and the video runs too fast. I don't get it, aside from adjusting the bitrate, the only other option I touch on the ReMPEG2 app is that I change Frame Mode from Progressive Only to Match Source.

I think I found my problem, I somehow have Ligos MPEG decoders installed on my system. I suppose it was included with one of the packages I installed with my Pioneer A03 drive. I assumed that I still had my CineMaster decoders handling all my MPEG-2 streams but this Ligos decoder was being picked up by DShow instead. When I forced the file to run with CineMaster's video decoder I was able to determine that the speed was correct and the decoder (using a registry setting) was decoding the video at the proper frame rate.

Guess that's one mystery down!
