I was encoding crouching Tiger (Region 1) using VDub 1.4.8 and DivX5Pro. The resulting AVI was 950MB (about 250 MB less than what GNot said). I used a bit rate of 1450 for the 2 hr movie. The result was very good.
I reran the 2nd pass with a bit rate set at 1600. I thought u can change the bit rate of the 2nd pass by + or - 50% (may b this is no longer valid). The resulting file size was exactly the same to the byte. Seems like changing the bit rate for the 2nd pass has NO effect.
In both cases, i checked "Use bi-directional Encoding".
Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to work. Your comments please!!!
Also, when I selected "Use GMC", i get a lot of artifacts throughout the movie that were pieces from the start of the credits. strange. never saw it before.
