You have answer your self, go and change that 128 MB you just added while you can, it's in bad shape.

There are several possibilities.

1. Bad Ram
Get Goldmemory tester or Memtest86 and let them run for awhile.

2. CCE sometimes has problems with the slightest timing problem that 99% of other programs don't and having memory in more then 1 slot adds another piece to have the motherboard time. If the memory tests fine then the only real solution is to remove that memory.
You could try buying 1 stick as big as you want it. This would solve the need to time between two sticks. It's not really practical as far as money goes, but might be the only way to get larger amounts of memory to work on your machine with CCE.

You could also try changing some of the bios settings. Maybe loosen the settings a bit to slow the memory down. Like if you have it set to CAS 2 try 2.5 or if you have bank interleave on shut it off. This will slow your machine down some, but if you can get it to work then maybe the added memory will add enough speed to make it worth it.

in my tests using two sticks of Crucial 256MB DDR. 512MB over 256MB increased encoding speed a whopping 0.01% or something like that. Sidenote...if you check out the many hardware forums out on the net you'll see many are having issues with two memory sticks on via kt266a motherboards. I did myself. I resolved my issue by putting the second stick in memory slot #4. If that doesn't work try slot#3 instead of #2 which I had it in.

I ended up having to return my 2 256mb ddr sticks to the store and getting two of a different brands or my computer would constantly cause data corruption in every application.

hi,

try to set the DRAM COMMAND RATE to 2T instead of 1T. This should help.
