Is it possible that win98 wont allow file sizes of 4gig and that is the reason for the error?.............any help would be great thanx

no, the 4gb limit has nothing to do with the problem you have here.
Its a burning problem. But the drive isnt returning what the problem is, or it doesnt know - hence the 'NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION'

Because Ive read your next post on Digital Digest, I'll answer here before you even ask ;)

Dont upgrade to Windows Me, put 2000 or XP on. Choose to format the HDD as NTFS when installing, or use the 'convert' program from the dos prompt with the switch /FS:NTFS to do it at a later date.

I am getting the same error message with the a04 when i choose aspi as interface in Instant Copy. I had to choose aspi instead of asapi because otherwise IC would not recognize any media inserted.

But with the aspi interface it crashes after 5-10% of writing with a similar error message. Really frustrating if u take in sight that Nero burns DVDs, Images, CDs without a problem.

Infos about my system:

I have a working aspi layer (4.60) and i dont like the idea of updating this one.
