HI!

I have a widescreen TV and I plan to use the 16:9 mode = the 4:3 area is displayed on the hole TV-screen. So my problem is: How should i config. XMPEG to get an anamorphic DivX so when I play it on my WS TV it will look the right way? I hawe tried different "aspect ratios" and "pixel aspect ratios" in the "post processing" tab in XMPEG but the only way to get good result on my TV is to use a "custom" aspect ratio of 0.49 and a "pixel aspect" of 16:9. Is there another way? Can't I take the anamorphic movie (most DVD I encrypt is anamorphic) directly from the vob's w/o any post processing?

When processing
select 16:9 as the input
select 1:1 as the output

this will give the correct aspect ratio on your widescreen tv.

also
I always select the crop pad and with 1.85:1 films
size my film at 720 x 576 then crop round the film.
with 2.35:1 films again 720 x 576 then crop top and
bottom and crop 72 off each side.

this means my finished movie has very little black around it
when I have zoommed my tv to 16:9

I don't want to use the zoom funktion, I want to use 16:9 mode where the TV stretch the 4:3 area to fit 16:9! For the movie to look ok I have to use 16:9 in and 16:9 out and change the resolution to 720x540 (PAL), I do that in the DivX 5 codec with bicubic-hard. It worked good for me and if someone else want to display the movie on a 4:3 TV the only thing they have to do is to change the aspect ratio in PowerDivX to 16:9! Done. Now that I am satisfied with the settings this "thread" is out of date =)
