I have perhaps bad luck:
I.) On PC with iP4:
1) I must use patch for CCE2.5 (remove CRC ), because I got in most cases "bad crc checksum..."
2) when I trying longer file than 2GB, CCE always freeze, when size of file is > 2GB and I must use Safe mode => decrease of my RT.
( Im using WinME with 32bit FAT => 4GB file. My AVI from DV camcorder works well in size 3-4GB)
II.) On PC with AMX XP:
same as point ad I.)- 2)
On both PC are 2HDD - each on standallone IDE chanel (IDE3,IDE4) - PROMISE Driver. On IDE1 and IDE2 are DVD-ROMs and CDRW.
256MB DDRAM.
But new status in Safe Mode for I.2): CCE end work on cca 25% and SAFE MODE was choosed. CCE doesnt freeze, but close itself.

Read the forum. This is covered in the advanced forum.
CCE has a 2GB file limitation, but it can be overcome.
It is dicussed at length in other threads like:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17188
Use the search function.
Point 1 is a function of you computer hardware and cannot be fixed until you change it.

I do not think safe mode has been tested for use with DV video so your problem might be normal.
Safe mode was not added for AVI/DV footage. It was added because of the CCE freezing issue.
It seems that most people are using TMPG to do DV footage and they seem to think that gives them better results.

OK. Somebody using 2.62. There is special setting or must be set only "Safe Mode" ?
I read, that CCE has better results than TMP.

I agree that for DVD's CCE will give better results, but I just saw that for DV video that TMPG had better results according to some of the posts. This was just the opinion of a couple of guys in the threads in the advanced forum. Defiantely give them a read there is very good info in those few threads. It might not solve your problem, but even if it doesn't it has some good info in it.
And yes for 2.62 you must use safe mode. You can use regular mode for 2.5 only.

I tried TMPGEng. But I got bad result:
program stop on Muxing and cutting in 90%.
I use "Crash recovery" again and same. When I exit M&C, program continues and made 3files 800,300,300MB. Only 1th file has video ( only 5minuts, then is only audio and error message in picture).
I saw to folder, but there is not some file 2GB and more ...
=> error must be made in TMPGEnc...
But I set all as I find on forum - QC ...
I'll must using 2.62 with "Safe ... "

MY testing betwen tmpgenc and cce has resulted in the fact that tmpgenc can produce better results in some areas..i think ddogg has a nice thread going with all the info needed on getting the best out of tempgenc..
