I was making a copy of Dances with Wolves using all of the defaults within DVD2SVCD. (internal ripper, etc.) After the entire process was completed, I played the SVCD and found it to be the behind the scenes section, not the movie. Is DVD2SVCD searching for the largest file? If so, how can I tell which one is the actual movie. I'm a newbie when it comes to DVD ripping and copying, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Gonzo

You are the one that selects the IFO file. If you got the wrong one it's because you selected the wrong the one. Click on the drop down and select details when you go to the directory and it will give you the file size of each of the IFO files. It's a standard windows open box.

Most of the time you are looking for the largest IFO file.

Thank you for your quick reply! Is there any way to determine which IFO file is truely the correct one, or is it pretty much an educated guess?

Thanks again,

Before you start the encode you could open the VOB files in DVD2AVI that is in your DVD2SVCD directory manually and then simply press f5 this will play the video without sound.

Whenever you are uncertain once the rip has started simply hit the X to close DVD2SVCD and it will finish the rip and then close. You can then load the VOB files into DVD2AVI or a Software DVD player like WinDVD to check to make sure you got the right ones. Then simply uncheck ripping in DVD2SVCD, select the IFO off the HD and go like normal.

Another tip is to check the time listed in the conversion tab. If it's much shorter then the movie you probably got the wrong IFO file.

You can do one of several things:

1) Open up windows explorer and look at the video_ts folder and see which IFO is followed by the largest number of VOB files.

2) Do the same within DVD2SVCD and use "All Files" under file type instead of "IFO"

3) Authenticate the DVD with SmartRipper and see which IFO it selects. Although SmartRipper is not supported by DVD2SVCD, sometimes it is a good method to try when internal routines or vStrip fails to rip all of the VOBs.
