I voted for BeSweet GUI, but actually I use an old version of DanniDin's Azid/Lame GUI. Does everything I need.

In my case, I use latest BeSweet GUI but I don't use BeSweet, so I voted Azid command line.

I'm pretty much same as LotionBoy - BeSweet is the way to go and that's what i voted, but, call me stoopid, i still use DDs Azid GUI for Azid for decoding and Razorlame for LAME in a lot of cases.

I love besweet, does everything all-in-one. I'll be excited when it can do Ogg Vorbis Compression too, that seems to be a nice way to go. Some people I know like to demux audio in dvd2avi then use the big old wav that spits out and stick it in audio catalyst, but besweet does that all in one nice step and saves you a lot of space. :D

Strictly HeadAC3he transcoding to Ogg. Why? The performance is just wicked fast and it supports 2ch and 6ch Ogg:) Speed is everything nowadays as I never have enough time in the day.

Before..Besweet going to LAME 3.91.

I still use Sonic Foundry+Dsenc (for 1,5 years now)
I prefer that one over dvd2avi and still over azid.

But i am going to switch to Headache(azid) when the drc-bug is fixed.

Hi, I prefer using graphedit with Intervideo audio decoder because it sounds like a real dvd.

I decode AC3 with my receiver ;)

You don't need Graphedit to do that. Just use something like BSPlayer which lets you choose which AC3 decoder to use. It has Intervideo or Cybberlink etc depending which filters you have installed.

plz read the audio-guides (http://www.doom9.org/audio-guides.htm).

It depends on what I'm converting to. When I convert to MP3 I usually use GKnot, so I voted Azid command line which is what Gknot uses. However, I have used headac3he when I am creating Vorbis files(just started with that).

Can't say I use the GUI for BeSweet as it crashes too often, but I do use BeSweet almost exclusvely now.

I was wondering what format you transcode your AC3's into for DivX encoding, and what program(s) you use to do it. Also, if you could give a reason for your choice I would appreciate hearing it.

@Head Hunter
This poll is pretty recent so I guess it will give you some insight as to what users wish.

Per Doom9's new forum rule were going to be locking all threads that could start a flame war(ie. Xvid vs. Divx). The idea is to avoid the "Which is best.." threads as they tend to do more harm than good;)

Well the last thing I wanted to do was start a flame war, but thanks for pointing me back to this thread.

I'm currently trying different ways; as long as I'm creating MP3 audio, mostly I use a batch file which calls BeSweet with all the parameters I need, taking the input and output filename and the ABR target rate as parameters (constructing such a call on a "Commander" command line is faster for me than loading presets in any GUI application).

But I'd like to check Ogg Media streams in the future, therefore it will then depend on the results of the Ogg conversion. My latest Ogg tests showed some flaw with ProLogic surround decoding - I couldn't decide between "left surround" and "right surround" playing the Ogg transcoded AC3 discrete channel test file.

What I'm definitely not using anymore is any VisualBasic based GUI; sorry, DanniDin: you made it easy for many people to transcode DVD audio - but VB requires so much resources that I'm almost unable to have any program running besides those GUIs.

but hi, LigH, we all know Delphi is better. but if you were DD, and you had put Sooo much work on the GUI in VB, would you start all over again and rewrite it on Delphi ?

@LigH: Whatever Works for You :) I Hope the Next GUI will Use Less Resources...

Please don't misunderstand me: I don't flame people who spent so much time for helping so many users... as well as I won't request authors do turn everything upside-down.

Instead, as being a coder myself, I rather should try the same; maybe I'll release a Delphi based GUI soon!? (Promises, promises...)

@LigH

I Think It's the Best Solution :)
You'll Write a Delphi GUI and I'll Stick to VB.
One More Prog. for the Users to Choose From ;)

99% of the time, the one and only: AZID!
But sometimes DVD2AVI...

How is this possible or am I misunderstanding? Or are you perhaps talking about demuxing?

HeadAC3he since I 'converted' to Ogg Vorbis ;)

And: BeSweet GUI (last version I used was v0.6b15) strangly designed, has very strange open/save file dialog (please use system dialogs) and it has too many options you'll <i>never</i> use (but it does beat writing command line and profiles are great idea) ...I am writing my own in Delphi, but dunno if I'll finish it since I don't use BeSweet anymore...

besweet command line exclusively

No, I use DVD2AVI sometimes when the AC3 is plain stereo, but even then I use most of the time AZID
I also use DVD2AVI when AZID fails to decode the AC3 file (it happened to me 2 or 3 times with some DVDs)

Besweet ofcourse, because it is the best and because the programmer (dg) has integrity.

I use ogg machine to encode my audio to oggvorbis at 80kbs(as good as 128kbs mp3)then encode video using XviD codec and mux the two using the oggDS filters and graphedit.

this is the method i use to get the best quality on a single cd.

BeSweet & OggMachine.
Why? Ask Dvd2svcd. ;)

DarkAvenger

Not that I want to start another flame war, but it really makes me laugh, when people like DVD2SVCD speak of "integrity", if they apparently don't know what it means. two words: vstrip & GPL... :D

Like I said before...now the thread will be locked. Should have locked it awhile back before the snide comments started. Come on guys!<sigh> There is no need for this stuff.
