Low video bitrate in virtualdub status window

Hi erverybody!

I just encode my first movie using the new divx 5.0 pro codec and followed the guide by doom9.
After the encoding started VirtualDub showed a very low bitrate and expected file size for the first pass (projected file size 5140 kb for a 2,5 hours movie) in the status window. I just wanted to ask if this is normal or I did something wrong...

Yes that is normal.
The encoding consists of 2 passes, the first pass analyses each frame and writes down info into a logfile(final output size 3-10MB or so, depending on movie length). The second pass uses the info in the logfile to encode the movie for real. By doing this you get much better quality and size predictability then when you use a 1-pass mode.

All of this is decribed in the guides somewhere, I suggest you look it up sometime.
