Newbie Question... plz help :)

Hey guys,
I have been visiting this forums for sometime and this is my first post so hey.
I have 2 questions and Im stuck?

#1) Can anyone plz give me some detailed tutorial on howto convert a mpg movie to divx. I tried using nandub and virtualdub but kept on getting errors and so on. It also mentioned something about compressing and so on.

#2) I have a few divx filed larger then 700Mb and I want to fit it onto a CD. Can I buy CD's larger then 700Mb capacity, if yes where @. Also, I dont like to split up the files, but instead is there a way I can re-encode the movie to a lower sound bitrate such that, it would be 700 or less Mb in size.

Any help would be appreciated and plz provide some details since Im a total newbie. Thanks in advance.

#2) there are 800mb cd-r's available, but your recorder must support them.
in virtual dub you can re-encode the audio with a lower bitrate. just set video to direct stream copy and the audio to full processing.

As FactorM pointed it out - there are 800MB cds, but your recorder must supprt it. You can always try overburning. With 700MB I can go (with good brand) up tp 710-712MB.
You can always cut credits and reencode them at very low bitrate (like 200) or just reencode audio (as FactorM pointed it out).
