Hello,

I am going to burn SVCD's that will be sold (No piracy!) - and it is very important to be 110% compliant with the specs. For the video I convert the DV video to MPEG2 with TMPEG PLUS. Then I split and remux with avi2mpg.

I have created two SVCD CD's, one with VCDImager and one with Nero. My standalone DVD player (Philips DVD622) accepts both discs, but the result are quite different: On the VCDImager version the playback time does not show, and the DVD-player menu is unavailable (thus cant select audio, subtitles, etc.). While the one from Nero is perfect. But Nero dont support chapters, right?

Does anyone have a clue about this? What is the differences between Nero and VCDImager? I would like to use the VCDImager because of the chapter support, but again I need the SVCD to be compliant and working on a broad specter of DVD-players. And for me it seem like the Nero version is the most compatible.

Can anyone please help me?

This is just because you're using PBC. Uncheck "Use PBC" in vcdimager and it works just fine (and is IMHO a lot better than Nero). Chapters is a must for this player as SVCD REW/FF doesn't work for discs longer than 40 mins.

By the way, I also have a Philips DVD 622. Have you had any problems playing your encoded material? I'm asking because I have had huge problems creating anything that will play on this player. Very often the SVCD/VCD hangs the player for a while, then continuing playing as nothing had happened. I haven't tried TMPG for a while, I already though it is hopeless to create an working SVCD with it. Right now I'm using CCE (with & without DVD2SVCD), it has created at least a few working SVCDs for me (and many skipping ones). If you haven't had any problems, I'd like to know about the method you're using for SVCD creation.
