I have found a m2v file extension plugin for tmpeg, and extracted directly to the folder that tmpeg resides in, but it did not work. In fact tmpeg started freezing up, as did my computer. Does anybody have any info on any m2v extension, and any specifics with regard to installing it? I am trying to resize a movie file (*.m2v) without first convering to d2v. so as to be able to fit on one DVD. Thanks for any help.

m2v should be an MPEG2 video stream. Which TMPGEnc can open directly. So what's the plugin good for?

I have had similar problems with tmpg not being able to read mpeg2 files. But I have found that if you use a frame sever (eg flask xmpeg) to send the mpeg2 (must be mpg file for frame sever) to tmpg it works fine. You could try this but its not an answer to your question.

open the environmental settings in tmpeg, and you will see where the m2v extension is not directly suppported by the program. Digital-Digest had a 3rd party download that is supposed to remedy this issue (and I have read that future updates may as well). Currently, if you burn in Smartripper (enable stream) it produces an m2v file, and that file will not load into tmpeg w/o first going through dvd2avi processing. There is no email or link for this 3rd party program so that I might be able to get help from the author. Iam hoping that somebody has already worked their way through this issue.
