Hi Folks

I got a really fucked up neighbour who complains like mad when
we watch a movie in the evening a little too loud.
You all know how it is, if you turn the volume to a level
where even explosions or music ain't too loud, you won't be able
to understand a single word of the talking in the movie.
The only way to get around this is to play constantly on
your stereos volume, but that's no fun.

So the question is:
Is there any software or player for divx movies capable of
auto-adjusting the sound volume while playing the movie ?

what you need is a compressor for the sound (makes the silent passages louder so the overall volume is about the same at every point).

I know a good compressor plugin for Winamp, it's called "Rocksteady", but I don't know if there are any solutions for media player (or other video players)

bsplayer can handle winamp dsp-plugins.

As MaTTer had already been telling you, 'DeDynamic' Audio filter from Matthias Lenk will solve your problems. In comparison to other similar filters its 'core' was coded in assmebler, so it will use only very little CPU for real time sound compression.

There is perfect support from PowerDivX 3.12 from www.powerdivx.com and in BSPLayer you may use it also .... PowerDivX 4 is still in Alpha stage but be prepared to get your asses kicked :D  ....
