=-0.22b [Divine Edition]-=

- added two Vorbis options for experts: Stereo Channel Coupling and Lowpass
- workaround for SSRC not sending last samples and calculationg wrong last samples
- some more fixes and newbie short instructions

Notes:

Don't forget to get new vorbis.dll which was further modified by me. It is based on latest CVS code.

If you don't know what the new options are about, better don't check hold and better don#t touch them. When hold is unchecked, choosing qualirty will automatically use vorbis' defaults. I added a function to vorbis so that defaults are read from the dll. If no dll is found, hardcoded values are used.

The stereo channal coupling could be usefull for some people, whothink q of 4.99 is too little but 5.00 is too much, so maybe 5.00 with light lossy coupling could help. But keep in mind there are more differences than just the coupling from 4.99 to 5.00.

Oh, the bitrate prediction won't look at the coupling/löowpass oyu choosed, you if you go off default, the bitrate could change more or less dramatically. The biggest difference is between light lossy and lossless.

It has been a couple of months since I made a SVCD (I have been messing around with other projects). But I just downloaded and used this latest version of headac3he, and it is terrific. The .mp2 stream is great, you've incorporated SSRC (which was always a time consuming step). 18minutes+ for the full job! I should also mention that your automatic DELAY compenstation for .ac3 files created by DVD2AVI works like a charm. The movie I worked on is the same one that I had problems with a while ago (which caused my recent lack of interest, as well as prompting me to start this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17598)). I have been using your pograms since the DSEnc days, but you really have it going on with this one...

With SSRC, is there a way to specify the dithering mode, or is that impossible when encoding to .mp2? Is the .mp2 encoder based on toolame? The quality is fine. Is there a way to specify the bitrate?

Thanks again for the great tool.

:)

I haven't enabled dithering, and you don't need it in direct conversion, as everything is made being in 32bit float area.

Oh, the other answers: No unfortunately not toolame based, configuration: 2x options...

@ D A,

Possible to have a text field for vorbis quality? The up/down arrows work fine but it might be quicker just to type in a number like 1.00 rather than scroll through the numbers. Does this make sense?

PS. I think you might have mentioned AAC transcoding awhile back. Are you still pursuing this?

Yes, someday I wanted to make it a text field, but it would take some logcis and thus time, so it is lower priority. I am doing other things right now, which are more important. ;)

And no, I can't remeber me pushing AAC. When you have Vorbis, why you want AAC? :)

LOL. Care to enlighten us what the other priorities are? I'm sure better performance ranks pretty high right?

I mention AAC because as it stand it's the only audio format that can successfully mux into an MP4 container.

Well, just wait for the alphas. ;)

BTW, if there is a dll for AAC compression, it shouldn't be a problem to integrate it.

D A,

I'm going out of town on business again:angry: However, I'll be putting together a HeadAC3he FAQ this week. I'd like to email it to you before I post it as a sticky so you could offer some input and/or make corrections. Will this be ok?

I'll check around for an AAC dll, though I don't believe one exists.

D A,

Roberto has a couple of FAAC dll files on his site as well as the libraries. Maybe these aren't what your looking for?

But how is FAAC? Hasn't dev stoped or am I wrongly informed? I thought Psytel was a lot better then latter on?

You will never be able to afford the license for Psytel's AAC dll :)

Oh OK, I didn't know that it was not freeware. Thx 4 clarifying.
