View Full Version : Error when trying to encode with DivX 4.11 in Vdub...

Whenever I try to recompress an AVI to DivX 4.11, I always get this error message: "Could not open log file for reading". So I click "Ok" and this error message comes up: "Cannot start video compression: The source image format is not acceptable (error code -2)". It happens no matter what avi I use for the video source, even one that's DivX 4.11 to begin with. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this?
Thanks in advance,

Could not open log file for reading
You are probably trying to do the second pass of a two-pass encode without doing the first pass first. The second error is a consequence of the first.

Well, the fact that the error comes up saying stuff about a missing logfile suggests you're doing a 2-pass encode and the codec can't find the logfile in the path you specified.
If you're not doing 2-pass, then what mode are you using?

whether i use divxenc or just virtual dub, i get the same error. Its obviously 2nd pass : 1st pass, and then 2nd pass : 2nd pass, it has nothign to do with a missing logfile.

You probably forgot to add the extension for the logfile/hintfile.
Or maybe you're trying to save the 1st pass logfile in a place the program can't write to?
