Hi,

Usually to encode my audio file I use Lame and Azid included in the GKnot package and so far it worked great. The problem this time is that my DVD (Eagles in concert) has only PCM audio file. So when I ripped the DVD with Smartripper, instead of having the usual AC3, I had a PCM file of more than 1G.
So how am I supposed to convert PCM file to mp3, I have no idea. Do I need a special tool to do that. Please help!

Thanks

Goslac :)

Well I would use RazorLame to compress it down to MP3. RazorLame is a really nice GUI for LAME of course:)

Do you know what type of PCM is? But I would try my luck with LAME, as MaTTeR told. Perhaps split some 100MB of that file first and try, so you don't waste your whole time, if it doesn't work directly.

OK thanks for your advice.
however, I do not what type of PCM file it is. How do you use Lame with PCM audio file?
I usually use Lame via GordianKnot, is there any guide that could help me out in details to do that, or can you give me some.

Sorry to bother you

Like I said, all you need to use is something like WinLAME or RazorLAME. These are very easy to use GUI frontends for LAME. Your PCM file is nothing more than a raw WAV file. Have you tried playing it in WinAmp or anything else?

HINT- Alot of guides exist on the net to use LAME for PCM WAV encoding.

The problem could be that it is an "off-standard" pcm, like 20bit or 96kHz or whatever. I never had a pcm file on DVD, so I can't be of much help.
