Question 1:
Can anyone give some exact interleave settings for multiplexing avi and ac3? For example: 448 kbps - these settings
384 kbps - these other settings...
Question 2:
In Gordian Knot. While I set the avi-overhead to AC3 1 Stream the frame drop-down list appears. What do I select there and how do I use this then in NanDub (while multiplexing...?)
Question 3:
And let's say that the first two questions are answered. No that I need to spli the avi in 2 pieces (using nandub) do I have to set interleave values again? If yes which ones? If no do I leave the settings default or un-tick the interleave option...?
Sorry for NOT believing that somebody could answer all this stuff for sure. Doom9 says nothing in his tutorials. When I say nothing I mean it does not say exactly what values you have to use. I have searched several forums and when these questions are asked all you get is confused users...
Thank you a LOT in advance...

You obviously didn't read the AC3/SPDIF FAQ right? There are no exact values to use actually, read the FAQ sticky for some good settings.

Gknot will mux the AC3 file into the video for you if you tell it to do so. This way you don't do anything manually in NanDub yourself. All of this is in the Gknot guides as well.

If you selected Gknot to mux the audio in automatically then no you dont have to do anything else in NanDub. Leave everything like it is in NanDub, select direct stream for video and audio and split your movie. Again all this is documented in the various guides. Starting to sound like a broken record here..

Well...welcome to the Doom9 forums:) Next time please read and search a little more before posting. Your subject also goes against the forum rules as well. Be specific...some people would ignore this message simply because of the subject. Read the forum rules after you read the AC3 FAQ page and enjoy.

And again you were not specific.
Question 1:
I remember a lot of time ago it was 120/120 for 448 kbps and 160/160 for 384 kbps. And the lower the bitrate, the higher the values.
Question 2:
So, if I want everything to be done in GKnot how many frames should I select next to the AC3 1 Stream option? huh? HOW MANY?
Question 3:
So if I do not alter anything apart from the direct stream settings what then? The interleave value (500 / 1 frame) does not work and ruin anything?
I have read both the AC3 FAQ and the GKnot Guide. NoOne is SPECIFIC. Sorry for the title of the topic, my mistake indeed.

grr.. trying to be not nice to a moderator? you should know better.
and.. he did answer your questions. are you sure you understand gknot? I don't make AVI/AC3 but it took me 5 seconds to figure it out. If you select 1xAC3 you have a frame dropdown list, right? now maybe 3cm below that dropdown list you will find an entry that say Interval = 42ms.. if you increase the value in the dropdownlist to 2 you get Interval = 83ms.. and you can go on and on like that. You won't get control over the ms value, but close enough.. 1/2 frames should work in all cases.
what does the guide say on splitting? anything on the interleaving values? as far as I can remember (and I'm the author after all) it doesn't say anything.. what does that tell us? you don't have to set anything special and the default values should work. If there's nothing to the contrary in the AC3 faq (done by people more experienced in that field than I am) then you don't have to worry about nothing.
