When I followed the guide, after preparing by reading it 3 times over, I finally go to encode my second pass and it comes up with an error message saying that "i'm trying to compress with a hacked compression driver. This may cause VirtualDub to act or crach unexpectedly." I followed the directions to a Tee.

And one more question, even after I thought I was pretty flawless on reading the directions but, what do I set the audio setting to. They tell you in First Pass to no audio, obviously but for second pass do I just change it to AVI Audio?? This isn't the big problem just thoguht I'd ask while I wait for an answer to the first question.

Thanx ppl.

Avery had to add that message du to some mails from microsoft.

And yupp, first pass: no audio (it's simply faster.), second pass: do whatever you need. I use no audio as well and mux the final avi with the audio I already encoded and compressed.

I didn't really understand what you were saying htere about that whole error message thing. If I read you correctly, you were saying that the error message was put there due to something to do with microsoft? So will that error message come up no matter if I've done everything right?

Thanks.

yes because divx 3.11 is an illegal hack of MS's mpeg4 codec
