Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...problems

I had tried encoding this with 4.12, and after about 53 minutes the video type changes (~98% film until then, NTSC ~25% afterwards). so basically up until that point, the movie is perfect. after, it looks like it is missing frames, it's all jerky. the audio is still synched, but it looks bad. has anyone successfully ripped this movie? i tried with 5.0 as well, and the same results. i want to try and get some insight on it before re-encoding for a third time.

i didn't encode any ntsc movies yet, but isn't it possible to make 2 encoding sessions, the first with the film part and the second with the ntsc part and then joining the both avi's together?

i thought about that, but the NTSC part will be 29.97FPS, and the other ~23. and they don't change where it would be splittable for 2 CDs. i found another thread saying to use decomb, but it's putting in big ol' lines/blocks every now and then.

i had this prolem too at first i thought it was divx 5 pro so i tryed divx 4.12 and same deal than i looked at the dvd2avi project and watched it was than i noticed the change from film to ntsc not sure what to do? any suggestion?:confused:

I remember a similar problem with a movie called Rounders, the problem was a locked chapter in the movie, i think that this was any kind of protection.

Try ripping the movie other time to the HD with smartripper, this time in the settings--> movie ---> try check every chapter or every cell.

you can check the error in the dvd2avi, see with the botton bar the part with the error, before and after rip with this method.

I have a dvd-rip of that movie and it's a perfect 23.976 fps rip. So there must be some way to IVTC correctly the hard part. Have you tried Decomb?

just started ripping this. It's pretty screwed as far as pulldown pattern goes, but it appears to be 100% telecined. Which means you have to turn off Force Film in DVD2AVI and use an IVTC method.

If you know any avisynth Decomb works well, at least past versions have, and the newest is suppose to be even better, but I haven't tested it fully myself.

The IVTC used by GordianKnot worked for me. Leave forced film off in DVD2AVI and use IVTC in GordianKnot. If you don't want to use GKnot add the following to your AVS:

#Load Plugin
LoadPlugin("location of plugin")

#IVTC
DoubleWeave.InverseTelecine(40,10,15)

This worked for me but you may need the IVTC plugin for AVISynth. I tried to attach the version I used.
