As far as I know the only way to replicate a dvd9
is with DLT tape. I was also looking for a way to
use 2 dvd-rs instead of dlt tape.
Lets see what you get...

I'm right now implementing such a functionality into IfoEdit to split a DVD to 2 DVD-Rs.

Hi Derrow,
I was pleased that you responded on this subjest.
I was seeking a way to split a dvd9 to 2 dvdrs. But not in the
way most of the people want. I mean not to split a complete movie
in two volumes. I want it to split as data exactly as of the
original dvd but splitted from where the layer changes. (Even if it does not play anywhere).
So we can get data of each layer into two separate dvdrs. (of course
with macrovision and region patched). This will enable replication
facility to make glass master for each layer separately. And then
they can replicate a dvd9.
The advantage of this I think would be to those who want to
author dvd9 without DLT which is much costly.
Bye and Good Luck with your wonderful ifoedit.

Perfect then.
That's what I thought too.
With my implementation, you can select the Cell, where the Layer-break is located, then it will be splittet right at this point.
But of course everyone can select a different cell point too for splitting the movie.
I've nearly finished it. So it would be nice if there's somebody out there to beta test it :)

Its good news that you've made it.
Can I have a copy to test. I can check this with the replication
factory within two days.
