Im a little confused as to what all these encoding options do. What options should I enable for the best quality encode? I don't care much for speed so whatever gives the best results.

I tried the pre-processing option and it blurred things alot, should I only use it on noisy films?

Thanks,

can anyone help? I've just read doom's Q&A so im going to avoid using the cropping resizing features etc...

But what about the others?

All I know so far is psychovisual can decrease file size but is know to cause artifacts and pre-postprocessing acts as a smoother which is ideal for noisy films.

What about the quarter pixel, gmc and bidirectional options? Should I use any of these to improve quality? I know that bidirectional slows down encoding but im told it improves quality.

Can someone shed some light on this as im a bit confused :)
Thanks,
