DivX 5.0 and filesize! I AM HELL CONFUSED!

Ok first of all which of the new settings affect the final filesize?

Then if I want to "backup" my DVD using DivX 5.0 into 2 CDs I run GKnot and get the bitrate and all the stuff (like in DivX 4.12).

Then encode with DivX 5.0 and get let's say a smaller file same quality...

What is the use of that? HOW DO I KNOW hom much space will the new settings save me in order to increase the bitrate for example?

I am writing all these because when I need 1GB video + 400 MB AC3 audio what is the use to get 800MB video? I am going to use 2 CDs anyway...

Hi!

If you read the readme.txt in the DivX5 bundle you would have known that you can't use any bitratecalculator designed for DivX 3xx and 4xx.
I'm sorry you have to wait until there is a new calculator for DivX5 out. Until then you just can keep on trying out your luck.

The codec is just out a day, and you already trust it enough to do full backups of DVD's? Wow, that's what I call trust!

Wait until the first bugs have been cleared out and compatibility has been established. Don't rush to change your encoding methods just because it's new. Change them when it's proven to be better than existing methods.

I am just testing. Actually I am encoding fitght club right now with all the new features (apart from the noise filter and the psycho-i-dont-know shit). I do not care about the results I have the original DVD.

how do you know is its going to be comparible to the other codecs if you dont test it? if nobody encodes with it until they get the bugs worked out the bugs will never been worked out because people have to use it and find bugs in the first place.
