Can someone shed some light?

Hi,

I normally use one pass @ 320 kbps with temporal smoother (3) and this takes about three hours for 45 min @ 384x288.
With divX 5 it takes five! hours and the quality is about the same. Did I miss something?

I take it you're using the pro version and enabled all the new features, like B-frames and quarter pel?

These slow down encoding a lot, and 1-pass mode already isn't faster than DivX4 without these options enabled.

No, actually I used the standard version without any extra settings. i know these are good to use but for now I wanted to test the speed and quality compared to v4.12.
Maybe it 's the postprosessing which can 't be set in the encoder but can be in v4.12. Is this an option in the pro version?

DivX4 can't set the post-processing during encoding. It sets the default post-processing to be used for playback, but that doesn't affect the encoding process at all.

Yeah, things are indeed progressing at a fast pace at this moment.
I open all new posts in new windows, but when I'm done reading them all and click refresh there's over 5 new posts already :)
