Noisy output?

Well, I was encoding Tomb Raider when I noticed something very odd. The output from XviD seems to be very, very noisy. I know it's not the source because I've watched it (and I'm watching it right now).

Has anyone else experienced this? I've noticed before that XviD seems to be a little grainy, but this is just terrible. It's not very noticeable until I try and view it full screen (from a resolution of 640x272).

Settings:
Two-pass
Luma masking: off
Quantization type: modulated (I've tried all three)
No I-Frame quantizer locks
No P-Frame quantizer locks
Curve compression: Hi-25%, Lo-20%
Keyframe boost: 20%

If you use the DivX4/5 filter for playback, does it look different/better/worse/same?

Could be an aliasing problem with full-screen playback.

Hmm... It looks better with the DivX decoder, but I'm not sure if it's due to the post-processing since post-processing is always enabled (I think even at minimum post-processing is done).

I think it may be Nic's DSF... I didn't realize Koepi included it until I went looking.

So how could I test this? I'm not sure how to unregister the DSF.

Well my DSF has postprocessing off as default, so unless my post-processing was turned on, then its not my fault (or the DSF's) its something in the core decoding.....but I find that hard to believe....???...Strange

Scratch that last message. Nic, your DSF is fine. I guess it's either XviD's encoder or decoder. I'm leaning toward decoder because if I use DivX's playback filter, it looks fine.

Never mind guys. I figured it out. (Damn DivX 5! I knew I shouldn't have tested it! Uninstall neatly solved the problem...)

Yes, yes. There was a thread about how DivX 5 messed up XviD's DSF. It just never clicked for me until now.
