SVCD plays at 1.5 times speed, why?

Used pinnacle to capture from DV cam, edit, and produce DV video encoder .avi file, 3600 Kbytes/sec video, 48kHz audio - pcm. Used avi2svcd to create .bin and .cue files, nero to burn image. Problem is that the SVCD plays back in my Pioneer DVD at something about 1.5 times speed (audio sounds like elf's, video clear but fast and jerky). Tried burning the bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpg file with same results. PowerDVD plays SVCD fine. Thing is, I have had great success making SVCD's from DVD's with the same PC and DVD player, even tried a small DVD chapter immediately after this failure to confirm things were still working with DVD's. Everything fine...What am I doing wrong? :confused:

Just a guess - can the frame rate be wrong? A software player
would be able to read that and adjust, but possibly not a
stanalone player...

is your svcd at fps of 23.97 ? if so did you use pulldown.exe to make the dvd player play it correctly at 29.97 ?

if you did, try the reverse, and not use pulldown. maybe you video is progressive at 29.97. not sure if this is viloation of the svcd spec, but then again so are xvcd and sxvcd, and some players do play it.

I'm not sure, but I think the SVCD spec supports a 44khz rather than 48khz audio stream

I know I start get chipmunk voices when I fiddle around with the frequency and frame rates

DV video was created at a frame rate of 29.970, and looking at the DVD2SVCD log file pulldown was not run. Can I force pulldown some how? DVD2SVCD indicated that pulldown is only run if the source is NTSC.

Avin, not only the voices are chipmunk, but the video itself is too fast as well.

I had a similar situation when the audio file was in mono. I converted it to a stereo one in GoldWave and everything went smoothly.
