Incredible but true!

After setting up vStrip (latest version) to extract the .AC3 spanish audio track from The Planet of The Apes movie, the resulting .AC3 file can't be loaded onto DVDMaestro because of "frame errors".

If I run the AC3Fix tool, some errors are fixed but then maestro reports bitrate is not consisten.

So I end up with a good video stream with no audio at all.

Which are my chances now that nor SmartRipper, nor DVD2AVI, nor vStrip have been able to extract such audio track?

I'm using AC3Tool GUI to run Vstrip, and it's supposed to work fine, but...

IDEAS? Please help!

Does Azid report corrupt frames also?

What is this product DVDMaestro? How reliable is it? I've never heard of it before:rolleyes:

Isn't AZID a DECODER??

I need a DEMUXER!

I think I found a solution althought I've not tested it yet: I'll IfoEDIT the Vobs to compose a new .VOB set with jkust the video and audio and then use DVD2AVI or VStrip to demux the audio from there... I did a brief test on the 10% of the movie and it worked fine on Maestro, so I assume 100% would be OK.

THis is giving me sooooo headaches...

DVDMaestro rules the DVD authoring world right now... Nice you mention u never heard of it bfore, we use it a lot in the Authoring forum here, in DOom9 ;)

What settings did you use with D2A? I've yet to see a movie D2A can't handle. In fact I used it on the NTSC Planet of the Apes.

If Smart Ripper isn't working in Stream Processing mode, then you could try the latest DVDdecrypter. Did you try using the "demux to file" feature in Smart Ripper? I'm just throwing out some ideas:)

Guess this is why I never heard of it:D Actually I was confusing it with the crapola DVDeo app.

I've yet to see a movie D2A can't handle.

I've had both Pearl Harbor and Evolution which produced corrupted AC3's when demuxed by either DVD2AVI or SmartRipper. Pearl Harbor was no problem, since it was destined to be a 2-CD rip anyways (so I used the AC3 itself, corrupted or not). For Evolution I have yet to find a solution to be able to convert it to Vorbis.

But one thing I've learned is that when one person has problems with a certain movie there are 20 more people who don't have problems with the exact same movie, even with the exact same settings. So I'll just continue searching for a solution.

The only occassion I can recall getting corrupt AC3 streams with D2A is when I try selectiong a portion of the movie with the "[-]" brackets.

It's worth mentioning I'm also using v1.8 of D2A. I think some of the ripping problems we some time could be DVD-ROM related. If you have a different DVD drive to try and use, then it's prolly worth a shot.
