I made couple speed tests comparing DivX 5 with DivX 4.12.
All is with fast recompress, no resize. Settings are slowest speed, similar as default by DivX 4.12.

Mpeg1 source, PAL VCD res (352x288). VDub 1.48, 10000 frames:
DivX 5 without mvinfo.bin: first pass 95 sec
second pass 93 sec

DivX 5 with mvinfo.bin: first pass 97 sec
second pass 60 sec !

So making second pass with use mvinfo.bin is faster some 60 % !
I get here incredible 166 fps.

DivX 4.12 first pass 103 sec
second pass 100 sec

VOB source (VTS_14_1.VOB) from second disk of Final Fantasy
DVD2AVI 1.82, no audio, cropped middle to 704x320 (no resize because of better compare of encoding itself).

DivX 5 with mvinfo.bin first pass 38 fps
second pass 54.6 fps -

I get more than twice real time speed

DivX 4.12 first pass 37.8 fps
second pass 38.4 fps

Test system is Athlon @ 1386 MHz, 256 MB DDR.

Of course there is a lot of new feautures to experimenting...

and what do u think about DivX5 if u compare it with the latest XviD?

And there also another big question:
Which version of DivX5 could beat XviD and why?

I didn't encode much with Xvid. For me it's in too early stadium of development. Also, making quality test is not so simple as making speed test.

Some results with Mpeg1 source res: 704x320, 13222 frames
Virtual Dub 1.48, fast recompress

DivX 4.12 I pass 4:56 > 44.7 fps
II pass 4:38 > 47.5 fps

DivX 5 I pass 4:40 >47.2 fps
II pass 2:51 > 77.3 fps

Again is speed gain when using mvinfo.bin about 60 % in second pass.

I made test with Mpeg1 source because of fast decode, so we have better picture of encoders speed.
