I`m a complete newbie at this so please go easy on me.

Like a bull in a china shop i`ve decided to try a epic film for my first divx rip attempt. A 3 hour epic which is ripped as 8 vobs.

Vobs 1,2,3 are 3gb vob4 is 300mb
vobs 5,6,7 are 3gb vob8 is 400mb

I assume this is parts 1 and 2 of the film.

Using Xmpeg is it possible for me to encode part 1 as one avi and part 2 as another avi? And if so how do I go about doing that, as the guide don`t go into that much detail. Also, will this effect the bitrate and how?

Also is it possible to say encode a 5 minute segment to avi to preview my settings to make sure everythings correct before i encode?

Secondly using windows-XP i discovered it was a "right pain in the arse" to get dvd-dycryptor to work. I eventually copied the wnaspi32.dll file from my nero folder to windows\system32 to cure it. It was a damn sight easier than going the adaptec aspi route. Maybe a windows xp divx guide could hightlight these potential pitfalls?
