Following Doom9's DVD2AVI guide I saved some loaded VOBs to a DVD2AVI project. The source was a PAL movie (The Mexican RC2).
When I previewed the video the frame rate display gave me
a) 25 fps (when Video/Field Operation = None)
b) 20 fps (when Video/Field Operation = Forced FILM)

Any idea where the difference comes from?

I could be wrong but, AFAIK you should never ever under any circumstances use force film on pal movies. It's for Film encoded NTSC DVD's only, is simply don't make sense for pal DVD's.

On NTSC material Forced FILM converts the 29.97 FPS to the "Real" 24 FPS that Movies have. Doing this on PAL Material is a no-no, it decreses frame rate with the same ratio (from 25 to ~20 fps)
