Compressibility Test

I noticed you can load the first pass .stats file into Gordian Knot. Does anyone use any particular "% of compressibility test" value to get a good quality rip?

Thats a very good question.

I have been using divx4 comp check to get the resolutions. That is, i am using one codec to find the resolution to encode using another codec. This is not the correct way of doing things, but...

According to doom9's guide, when using divx4 comp check, one should try to get a value between 40%-60%. But from what i have seen and experienced, Xvid can look good with values below that mark.
I have made rips with values of 35%, and IMHO it looked good enough, by using Nic's most recent post processing filter.

But it would be nice to have a xvid comp check :)

I've asked the same question concerning compressibility test.
Until now, I've just Use divx 4 and the and as far as i were told, the compressibiolity test is not really accruate (5% of the film).

And maybe i'm rong but with XVid, the size predibility seemss to b excellent (never experienced my self yet) so why use CT ?
