Again something to do with getting a newer version... when i first got into this i had older versions of nandub/virtualdub and now installing and running the older versions still brings up the new version settings, something to do with the registry? anyway, i wanna learn to use the new version right anyway, so here's my problem:
on an older version of nandub, where each setting had its own menu option (bitrate reservoir, divx settings, etc) as opposed to them all on different tabs under the sbc settings option, i encoded about 15 movies very nicely, just loading the settings i had found to be best and changing the bitrate and a few other things for each movie... on the newer one, when i do that same thing, with a 980 bitrate for an hour and a half movie, the movie came out to be 200 megs instead of like 650 where i was aiming. and the quality actually looked pretty good, but only on the low motion scenes... on the slightest bit of motion it would be really blocky, i figured it must be something to do with the high/low motion settings but they were just as recommended by dooms guide and i tried it the way nickys page says to as well... i tried upping the bitrate and other quality settings but they didnt make much difference... how could the movie size have gotten so small?? also while encoding the deviations seems to always be a positive number instead of negative like it used to and the projected file size slowly gets smaller throughout, instead of an even fluctuation. any sugggestions?
