Burning .cue/.bin files

Hi all,
Apols in advance for newbie question but How on earth do you burn the .cue or .bin files created by DVD2SVCD. I have latest version of nero and when I select the SVCD template all I can do is import the Muxed .mpg into the template. IS this correct? or can I use the .cue or .bin files????

I have tried using fireburner and it just says Illegal field request and bombs out! I have tried using CDRWIN which burnt a CD which then could not be read by the computer OR the DVD player - Bizare??

Finally even when I have burnt an SVCD disk with Nero it plays OK in PowerDVD however the DVD player seems to decide wether to play the thing or spit it out - It is real hit and miss!!

My dvd recorder has a max of 4 X , Should I be using the full max or maybe burning at 2X?? My DVD plays all other backup SVCD's that I have purchased??

Hi Ru$$Rip,

If you want to burn with Nero then make sure it is the latest version (5.5.7.8) as earlier versions had some issues with burning *.cue files. Then close the wizard or any opened project, use File|Burn Image... menu and load the desired *.cue file and burn it using Disc-at-once mode make sure you have enabled overburning in File|Preferences...|Expert Features otherwise there might be some problems with correct burning the images too.

BUT BUT BUT the warnings in other threads here say that
*** NO *** version of Nero, "even the latest one" properly
burn bin/cue SVCDs, and so daemon-tools should be used followed
by a vanilla copy.

There's even a fairly recent thread about "warning from Usenet"
about this...

So you are SURE that the latest Nero fixes whatever problems
people had been warning about?

What you should do if you are using nero is load the cue file in to deamon tools then make a simple cd copy with nero. Just using nero works for some but it seems loading the cue file first into deamon tools and allowing nero to burn it using "cd copy" works flawless..i guess it remains to be seen tho:)

Hi quadguy,

the issues I mentioned were with versions earlier than 5.5.6.4 (only supported *.bin files and added them two times) also in 5.5.6.4 some had issues when trying to burn the *.cue files - Nero just started to burn and messed things up showing an error message about something went wrong with caching the files or so. This got fixed with 5.5.7.2 - burning *.cue files was now possible on almost all systems. But for me it was not successful burning the images in "disc-at-once" mode every time - I had to use "track-at-once" mode to get successful burned images.

But this is not a really good choice as the images really should be burned in "disc-at-once" mode (overburning is also only possible in "disc-at-once" mode) although the SVCDs just played fine in my standalone. But I only did burning with Nero for testing purposes and used Fireburner with good success for my first conversions and then switched to the "Daemon-Tools" way.

And after reading DDogg's post I now can completely understand why Nero corrupts the SVCDs and I can only underline his words to not use it anymore for burning the *.cue files directly - just switch to the Daemon-Tools. It also gives you a great preview functionality without having to burn a single SVCD.

I always use BlindWrite for burning those images!
It works very properly with any CD-RW Drive and Speed!
