I need your help for an Avisynth-FAQ !

As you might have read in this thread (http://www.rilanparty.com:8080/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17513) , I'm working on an Avisynth FAQ.
But I've noticed that much time is spent on finding out the right questions to ask.
So I'd be very happy if all you Avisynth-users (no matter if newbie or expert) could post the most common questions you've got in mind.

Just two fast ideas

I would like an updated vdfilters.avs with new usefull filters,and
of course and improvment of the scripts;neuron2 has pointed there
are some problems when default values are includes and we call the
funcition ().Of course someone would have to host that new file with
a link from the FAQs.

And it would be useful a list of known bugs and problems and how
to avoid them.

What about a pretty obvious explanation of the current situation on getting your hands on the latest Avisynth? And who is developing it further (if anybody is), are there any pseudo-official initiatives on it, etc.

The Avisynth doc mentions using DirectShowSource to read files. I've heard it is sometimes faster than DVD2AVI. What are the limitations here?

- If I want to use "ShowSMPTE" to visualize the Time Code
of an avi file and if that file is captured from
DV camera (contain Time Code from DV tape) - is it possible
"ShowSMPTE" to start count from builded in file TC instead of
00:00:00:00 ?

I would greatly appreciate some information on how to use the SpatialSoftenMMX-PlugIn, with a little explanation on the different parameters.
